DTC 308

DTC 308 occurs when the PolySync application is attempting to connect to a device through the native interface and is unsuccessful in identifying, communicating with or validating the device.

The native bus is defined as the interface used to communicate the sensors data to PolySync, typically one of the following:

  • Ethernet
  • CAN
  • Serial / USB

Here's an example where an Ethernet sensor (Velodyne) is unable to connect to the IP address defined in the SDF Configurator.

 You can see there are a handful of DEBUG messages and one ERROR:

ERROR : velodyne_hdl32e_interface : (1220) -- failed to validate interface '192.168.2.202' - check Ethernet connection, SDF configuration, and manager node status

 

The Dynamic Driver failed due to one of the following events:

  • Interface in invalid
    • Some hardware exists at the given interface address/configuration, but it's not the sensor that's expected
  • Timeout reading data from the sensor or device
    • Device interface was validated and data was being read, then the native bus was disconnected, interrupted or otherwise compromised to disallow data flow
    • No valid data was read for a given timeout period

 

To resolve DTC 308 you'll need to verify the sensors configuration:

  • Verify the IP address, CAN channel or serial port the device is physically connected to on the host ECU
    • Eliminate other devices, sensors or hosts that could be interfering with locating the targeted sensor
  • Configure the PolySync SDF node entry to reflect the physical configuration
    • The SDF holds all static information needed to connect to the sensor
